Blue Lemon

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to my favorite Utah restaurant which just opened a new location in Sandy about 10 minutes from my house, Blue Lemon!

blue lemon3Blue Lemon serves American cuisine, both entrees and desserts. It is fine dining level quality without the high price tag.  Honestly cooking is more for personal enjoyment when you’ve got something this good for this reasonable a price.

blue lemon 6For $12 including a drink I got chicken curry meal with rice pilaf, veggies and a pear blue cheese salad.  I couldn’t make all that for $12 for just me.  No way.  It was delicious! I’ve rarely had a miss at Blue Lemon’s other locations.

In fact, last year I went to the Black Sheep Cafe in Provo and spent double what Blue Lemon cost me and I prefer the Blue Lemon meal.  Black Sheep wasn’t bad but i definitely wasn’t worth double.

It is served cafeteria style so you also save in waiter fees and tips.  The assembly line is out front so you can see your food being made.  They also have a large booth of delicious desserts.  Last time I went I got a flour-less chocolate cake and it was so rich I could only eat half of it. Delish!

So if you haven’t been go check out Blue Lemon.  You won’t be disappointed.

Oh and they also have a full breakfast menu that is delicious.

Now I’ve made myself hungry.  May just have to go there for lunch!

The Best Movie I’ve Ever Seen

I wrote this post on the disney blog about movies that changed my life and how to talk about them without offending or being a jerk. I think it is pretty well written so check it out

Rachel's Reviews

Please forgive me my friends for taking a slight detour off of Disney, but I thought it would be helpful before diving into the Renaissance (which will start after my Oliver and Company review) to talk about the experience of movies, both bad and good.  I know many of these upcoming films are not only favorites but near- sacred childhood experiences.  I know that because I agree.  For me attending The Little Mermaid was what Star Wars was for a lot of boys.  It was the movie that spoke to me and seemed to be telling my story.

I don’t want to give away my Little Mermaid review (which I will try to watch somewhat objectively but it’s going to be tough) but I remember first seeing it as well if not better than I remember my baptism which was the same year (yikes but true).   My Mom took…

Books Into Movies

Just thought I would share this video with you all of books I think would make good movies. Some of them were movies like The Chosen and Hiding Place but they could be much better movies or new versions.

I have also decided a cast I think would be good and director.

I think it turned out pretty well.  Have you read any of these?  What books do you think would make good movies?

Things that are Funny: Joe Machi

It’s Friday.  It’s been a long week.  During lunch I was listening to a comic I’ve liked for a while named Joe Machi.  I always say with comedy- all I know is what I think is funny.  I have no idea if you guys will think he is funny.  He is awkward and nervous but the writing is good and it makes me laugh.

To me that was funny the gag about the bank password.

He was recently on Last Comic Standing and he was robbed!!! But I first saw him on Red Eye which is late night on the Fox News Channel (as an insomniac it has provided me with loads of entertainment).

Here’s some more of his sets on Last Comic Standing.

So if you needed a laugh hopefully that did something for you! Thanks for making me laugh Joe! What current stand up do you like?

Just an Update

tmnt
Sporting my ninja turtle look. Hi from Recoveryville! Turtle power!

Hey guys!  I’ve been having so much fun with my Disney reviews I don’t want you to think I am ignoring this blog.  While still in recovery honestly not a lot has been happening in my life.

As far as my recovery I have made huge strides with my knee.  I don’t need my cane anymore which is great and I can get down and up the stairs with relative ease.  I went to a movie yesterday and that was a lot of pressure on the knee, so maybe a bit early on that but I made it through.

I also went to the grocery store for the first time last week which was very exciting!  You sure appreciate the small things when you are injured.

But thankfully I feel confident I will be close to fully recovered in the next 2 weeks.  Hurray!

I just finished review #20 on my Disney blog and it has been so much fun.  If you haven’t take a look check it out http://54disneyreviews.wordpress.com/

Today’s review is The Aristocats which was not my favorite because I felt it borrowed too much from Lady and the Tramp and 101 Dalmations.  I don’t care for Disney when I feel it is being lazy.

I also did a post on my youtube channel about romantic comedies that turned out pretty well.

I have book club coming up this Saturday and I am very excited about that.  We are reading To Kill a Mockingbird and am about half way done on this reading.  One thing that strikes me on this read-through is how little time is actually spent in the courtroom.  It’s all about the relationship building done in subtle interactions of the family.

A friend of mine told me she had never reread a book before and that still amazes me.  A book like To Kill a Mockingbird changes with each reading, so you really miss out on reading it once.   I hope someone comes to book club because I’m looking forward to discussing it.

Other news…I saw Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday and I liked it.  Comic book movies will never be my favorite but this was a lot of fun.  I thought the characters were the best part.  The story was more standard and predictable.  The villain was ok. But the characters were charming and Chris Pratt as Starlord reminded me of a young Harrison Ford.

Have any of you seen it?  What did you think?  Definitely one of the best comic book movies I’ve seen in a long time.  It didn’t take itself too seriously which is what I like about the Marvel films.  DC films like Man of Steel are so morose and brooding.

Anyway, I liked it.

But that’s about it.  I’ve been watching Big Brother and it was fun while Zach was there but have kind of lost interest.  Any of you watching that show?  Looks like Derrick is going to win and he’s played a good, if rather tedious game

Life is pretty boring at the moment but I’m happy with that.  Just want to be 100% and be able to cook a meal again.  Going to be a great day when it happens.  Thank you so much for all the support and prayers.  I have felt them everyday.  Love you all!
